During the second day of participation of Sofia Municipality in Philoxenia – 2011 International Tourism Exhibition, the representatives of Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise, Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, Municipality Plovdiv and Bulgaria Holiday held a working meeting with the Mayor of the municipality of Volvi, Mr Dimitris Galamatis. The meeting was attended also by the Deputy Mayor for Culture and representatives of the Greek branch organizations. The talks discussed the possibilities for future cooperation between the municipalities of Sofia and Volvi. Mr Galamatis emphasized on the great desire of the Greek municipality of Volvi and the professional organizations to develop on municipal level bilateral relations in tourism. On the same day, representatives of the Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise held a working meeting with Mr Dimitris Gotis, Director of Greek National Tourism Organisation at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Greece. Mr Gotis expressed satisfaction with the current fruitful cooperation between Sofia Municipality and the Greek National Tourism Organization. During the talks discussed were the opportunities for increasing the visits of Greek tourists in Sofia, especially in times of economic crisis.

On November 18, 2011, Helexpo exhibition complex hosted Philoxenia 2011 International Tourism Exhibition. The exhibition is held annually and focuses on end-users of tourist products. The tourism forum was opened by Pavlos Geroulanos, Minister of Culture and Tourism. Sofia Municipality, represented by Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise, traditionally participates in the exhibition, together with the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism. The Enterprise presented Sofia as an attractive tourist destination by means of a diverse range of themed promotional and information materials. The desk of Sofia Municipality is located in Pavilion 13, stand 34 of Helexpo exhibition complex.
Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico

During the second day of participation of Sofia Municipality in the 14th International Tourism Fair Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico, Stoyan Lazarov, Director of Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise held a workshop with Mr Ulle Toode, representative of the Embassy of Estonia in Italy. Mr Toode briefly presented the programme for selection of Tallinn as European Cultural Capital in 2011. During the meeting they discussed specific projects in which the two municipalities can partner and share positive experitise in announcing the nomination of Sofia as Cultural Capital of Europe in 2019.

On the first day of the Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico, the head of the Office of Commerce and Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Bulgaria in Rome Mr Boyko Kadrinov and Mr Stoyan Lazarov, Director of Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise welcomed at the Bulgarian stand Mr Ercole Jammarco, Director General of Communication Projects Department at Mondadori Publicita. During the talks discussed were the possibilities for promoting Bulgaria and Sofia as an attractive destinations for cultural tourism. Mr Luben Stoyanov, representative of Balkan Tours in Milan attended the meeting. He emphasized on the issues that impeded the presentation and sale of Sofia Destination on the Italian market.

On November 17, 2011 in the town of Paestum, Italy opened was the 14th edition of the specialized international tourism fair Borsa Mediterranea del Turismo Archeologico. Sofia Municipality, represented by Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise participated in the exhibition for the first time, together with the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism. With a variety of themed promotional and informational materials Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise presented Sofia as a modern European capital with a rich cultural heritage and as an attractive destination for lovers of archaeological tourism. In 2011, 200 international exhibitors attended the exhibition from 31 countries and more than 150 representatives of the Italian national and regional associations, universities, museums, archaeological parks and more. This year the Forum program includes seminars, presentations and screenings of original themed films for exhibitors and visitors.
