MITF 2011 – Moscow

On May 13, 2011 at 10:00 am in the complex of the international tourism fair MITF-2011, the delegation of Sofia Municipality led by Stoyan Lazarov, Director of Tourist Service Municipal Enterprise, held a working meeting with the President of the Tourism Committee at the Government of Moscow, Mr Sergey Pavlovich Shpilyko. The meeting was also attended by Mr Kiril Maznev, Director of the Industry Centre of the Republic of Bulgaria (ICRBM) in Moscow, Ms Katja Zhekova, expert at the ICRBM and Mr Dimitar Tsonev, representative of Solvex, Bulgarian tour operator in Moscow.

At the meeting discussed were joint actions to increase the interaction between Sofia Municipality and the Government of Moscow in the tourism industry, as well as specific projects related to organizing info tours for Russian journalists in Sofia. Mr Tsonev stressed the factual issues hampering the travel of Russian tourists to Bulgaria and state issues related to organizing and conducting the upcoming summer tourist season in Bulgaria. In response to his questions, Mr Shpilyko suggested that a work gtoup be set up with his active involvement.

In conclusion, the possibility was agreed for renewal of the Protocol on Cooperation in Tourism and the Agreement on Economic, Scientific and Technical, and Cultural Cooperation between the Government of Moscow and Sofia Municipality.
